Chesham rode their luck in this one. The first half was very slow and scrappy and only came alive after 41 minutes when Dave Fotheringham fired home what looked like from my view a sharp finish from the left side of the box (the boys behind the goal reckoned it had a whiff of a cross-come-shot). It followed the best bit of fast, accurate build up play of the half - from Steve Wales (how many times have we said that this season?).

The second half started a bit brighter, but ultimately Chesham looked content with a single goal - John Frendo being replaced by Dom Marsala for example. Beaconsfield could easily have nicked a point when they blew an open goal chance late on, but on the balance of play the Generals were probably good value for the win.

Two other positives - credit to Beaconsfield for continuing to try and play attacking football even though they looked underpowered, and to the ref (hardly heard a word from him or noticed him all game - got to be good).

Good win against a hard working side.

Excellent ref, why are there not more like him?

Man of the match Beaconsfield's "Onesize" look alike no 5. He made supurb tackles and blocks throughout the 90 minutes. His positioning was excellent. He is by far the best centreback we have played against in the last three seasons. Andy get a 7 day approach on him now..

another 3 points is another three points, from what I saw Sycob looked a better side than Hitchin, why the difference in league positions, it seems daft.

Credit to the Sycob supporter in the bar drinking Stella all night and seemed to think that Sycob should be beatng teams like us easily, must me looking at the league table upside down (and probably most others things!)

See U saturday :D

I agree CeeBee, it's three points on the board. I've mentioned it before, at this point of the season it doesn't matter how we win, just that we do. I would have taken a 1-nil win last night with the goal coming in the last minute with a rebound of there numbers 9's big mouth sorry rear end (I guess you could mistake them for either). the way I saw it, we won without having to get out of second gear. We have three tough games coming up, and fingers crossed we can produce some good results and keep the points clocking up.

Going back to there number 9, I can see why Burnham let him leave. each tackle he made he either left his elbow in there or his studs up. how he managed to stay on the pitch without being sent off left me scratching my head. but he wasn't the only one, on more than a few throw ins there players where scrapping there studs down the pads of our players. all this went un-noticed by the ref, so my question is was the ref as good as he appeared?

As for my man of the match, I would have given it to there left back, he worked hard and matched J.K and Wales, for pace, and even had a few nice touches, and this hasn't happened to much this season.

Good win last night, and fingers crossed more points on Saturday.

I agree with 'Fother's Shirt' comments about the man of the match being the Beaconsfield number 5. If it was not for his performance I think our winning margin would have been a few goals more.

I have no idea who he was but nearly every time we put the ball in their box in the air it always ended up on his head. On the ground it was him getting in the tackles / blocks / clearances.

It was the type of performance a commanding centre back puts in every week. In my opinion, this is something we have lacked over the last few years.

He must be worth another look. If we had a centre back playing like that all season I think we would now be challenging for the title rather than just looking for a play off spot.

Maybe he just had a good night!
Beaconsfield have conceded twice as many goals as we have this season so far, so I know which defence I'd prefer!!!!!

He may well have been there all season and happened to have his one good game against us.

Or, he may be one of the several players who were making their debuts for Beaconsfield Tuesday night, or one of their players who has only played in their last few games.

Just because an individual plays for a struggling side it does not mean that he is bad player.

As we know, just because a team is near the top of the league, it does not mean every player is top quality. All teams have a weak link.

I dont think there is any team in the world that could not be improved by bringing in at least one new player!
